Magic ACTLAB

History

The past and now

Background and foundation

Rune Carlsen and Martin Hansson have both been developing competition acts for many years. After numerous international awards and television appearances, and after spending years refining their own material, they both realised the same truth.

  • There was no real place for development.

  • No dedicated space for competitors.

  • No environment built for the long, difficult and creative process behind competition magic.

They were missing the place for structure.

  • The place for collaboration.

  • The place for honest feedback, shared knowledge and long term growth.

  • A place where magicians could push each other to become better — not just as performers, but as creators.

Eventually, Rune and Martin met. They began talking. Comparing experiences. Discussing what competitors actually need and what magic, as an art form, would benefit from. Out of these conversations came a simple realisation:

  • FISM provides the arena. But the world needs a place that builds the athletes. Together.

Not a new club. Not a federation. Not another competition. But a laboratory. A structured, supportive and creative community designed only for one purpose:

  • To help magicians develop stronger, cleaner and more meaningful competition acts.

ACTLAB was born from that idea. An environment where competitors from any country can work seriously, share openly, challenge each other and grow together. A place with sessions, workshops, discussion, exploration and long term follow up. A place built on trust, clarity and collaboration.

ACTLAB exists because creating world class magic is hard and no one should have to do it alone.

This is the background.
This is the foundation.
This is why ACTLAB was created.
